For a number of years, Tiger, Firefox, Helios and the signature "Classic" model have been legendary names in the stove world, and the popular Gallery Collection Wood Burners have given heat and light to homes for generations.

However, these iconic models have been replaced by a new wave of eco friendly upgrades that adhere to the Eco Design regulations that have come into place in 2022, but it's by no means the end of an era - in fact it's the start of a clean burning new one.

Before we get into the brand new Tiger, Firefox, Helios and Gallery Classic models, let's look into the background of Eco Design 2022.

With the modern world seeking for more sustainable ways of living, and governmental action taking place in order to achieve this, the Clean Air Strategy in the UK aims to reduce the impacts of solid fuel appliance use on the UK’s air quality.

In order to do this, Eco Design 2022 regulations promote the use of clean-burning solid fuels in appliances as well as improved operation.

But what exactly has changed, and what does it mean for the industry?

Now we have passed the deadline of 1st January 2022, manufacturers of all solid fuel burning roomheater appliances will need to prove that their products have been independently tested to show that they meet the seasonal efficiency and four emission standards within the Ecodesign regulations.

This will help to reduce Carbon Monoxide emissions, along with lowering emissions of Particulate Matter (PM), Organic Gaseous Compounds (OGC), and Nitrogen Oxides (NOx).

We're often asked, can I still use my stove if it's not eco design?

The new regulations only cover those newly produced appliances that are “placed on the market” and made available for sale on the UK market after 2022, so any installations before this are perfectly legitimate!

With all that cleared up, let's move onto the stoves...

Tiger Eco Wood Burning / Multifuel Stove - Ecodesign Ready

The new Tiger Ecodesign Stove has been developed for the future. It is not just Defra approved for Smoke Control Areas but, of course, it also releases fewer emissions than older models.

Aside from that, some of it's finest features include a direct air supply for modern air tight homes, avoiding the need to add air vents. It also has a double tertiary air system to reignite smoke particles making its exhaust cleaner, plus it also has a choice of leg heights. It’s truly a great all-rounder.
