Charnwood Stories: The Pig at the Bridge
As one of the UK’s leading wood burning stove manufacturers, it’s no surprise that Charnwood stoves can be spotted at some of the country’s finest establishments!
So, this week we took a peek inside the beautiful The Pig at the Bridge hotel in Kent, having heard that they have some gorgeous log burners at the heart of their stunning period building….

Where is The Pig at the Bridge?
Set three miles south of Canterbury, just outside the historic village of Bridge, this country hideaway is a truly picturesque retreat. They are renowned for their excellent restaurant, so not only is the hotel nestled by its own Kitchen Garden, but is also just a stone’s throw from an array of local farms.
What is the Building Like?
This red brick period building has a rock’n’roll history, having hosted the likes of Led Zeppelin back in the 1970s!
Inside, you will find cosy snugs, secret stairways and - of course - beautiful fireplaces to cuddle up around!
What Log Burners Do They Have?
This is the part we love! The Pig at the Bridge has installed some of our favourite Charnwood stoves to create a stunning effect. Working fantastically with their trademark rustic-chic interiors, we can’t think of a more perfect combination.
Charnwood Country 4
As part of the lounge area, a Charnwood Country 4 stove creates the perfect atmosphere for kicking back with a coffee and your favourite book.
This is the smallest model in the Charnwood range, but is still packed with the brand’s best features. If you don’t have much space in your room, these could be an ideal fit for you.

Charnwood Island II
In the snug area, there is a toasty Charnwood Island II stove. This is easily one of the most popular stoves in the Charnwood range - this could be down to its charming double-door design, 82% heat efficiency or its powerful 8kW heat output!
These are great for spacious lounges, as they make a beautiful feature in your fireplace. They are also Ecodesign ready and are part of our stove scrappage scheme.

Charnwood Island III
Finally, the Hop Pickers Huts feature their own Charnwood Island III stove. These rustic and cosy huts offer a true sense of luxury, so we’re not surprised to see one of the top log burners in the Charnwood range in here.
As the largest of the Charnwood Island models, this stove can deliver a phenomenal 12kW of heat, so is perfect for glamping accommodations or shepherds huts, which might feel the cold more than an insulated building.
