  • Description

Firefox 8 double door cast iron multi fuel stove is fitted with features normally associated with more prestigious models. The stove has primary and secondary air controls with airwash to help keep both glass windows clean for an uninterrupted view of the view.

The Firefox 8 is a multifuel stove however, if your main fuel is going to be wood, an optional wood burning kit is available from the options when ordering. The wood kit closes the multifuel grate and allows air to flow around the logs to burn more efficiently.

      for protection

    What's included in the offer:

    • 1. Black stove pipe.
    • 2. A registration plate is used to seal the chimney opening off from the room preventing dust, soot, dirt and debris falling down the chimney. It also helps to prevent a draft coming down the chimney. We supply a standard 800mm x 400mm galvanised steel register plate with all our stoves. You will simply need to cut the plate to size to fit into your chimney opening.
    • 3. We also provide you with a single stove glove that you can use for stoking the fire and adding wood without the risk of personal injury.

*Excludes electric stoves, flueless and balanced flue gas stoves - as these are not required.

    Optional Extras.

    Carbon Monoxide Detector:

Due to an update to Building Regulations it is now law to have a Carbon Monoxide alarm present in any room with a solid fuel appliance:- The Building Regulations 2000 Approved Document J (2010 Edition) '2.34 Where a new or replacement fixed solid fuel appliance is installed in the dwelling, a carbon monoxide alarm should be provided in the room where the appliance is located.'

    Flue Liner Packs:

The flue liner pack consists of; a nose cone, to easily manoeuvre the flue liner into place, a flue adaptor, which connects the stove pipe to the flexible flue liner, Dura Flue flexible flue liner (this is 6" in diameter and 316 Grade) cut to the required length and a 6" pot hanger rain cap, this supports the flue liner from the top of the chimney and also acts as a bird guard and rain cap.

    Stove Pipe with Door:

A stove pipe with door or access point, allows the chimney to be swept through the pipe itself.

    Stove Glass Insurance:

If you select to take out our stove glass insurance this covers your stove glass for the time period you select. If your glass breaks within that time period we will send you a replacement piece of glass regardless of the reason the glass broke. All we will ask is that you send a picture of the broken glass.
The insurance only covers you for one replacement piece of glass. It doesn't cover you if you break the replacement piece of glass.
All stove glass is covered during delivery and any glass broken in transit to you will be replaced free of charge, without affecting your stove glass insurance.

Please make the relevant selection above when placing your order if you require any of these parts and also select whether or not you require a Carbon Monoxide alarm sending out with your order. Please note that if these parts aren't selected with your order we can't send them for free after your order has been delivered.

  • Delivery Info
    Free 1 Man Delivery

Our "Free Delivery" is a one man service. The goods will arrive on a lorry that is about the size of a fire engine. (Please let us know in advance if you have restricted access.).

The lorry has a tail lift that allows the driver to get the stove/oven off the vehicle, the stove/oven will be packed on a pallet and the driver will have a pallet truck.

He'll be able wheel this as close as possible to your property, if you have a garage he'll be able to wheel it into there for you.

The pallet truck can only be wheeled over a finished surface so it's not possible to wheel it over a gravelled drive nor is it possible to wheel up or down steps.

The pallets are normally about a 1m wide so this is the minimum width gate they can fit through. Please note that the driver is not insured to unpack or carry the stove/oven into your house.

If the goods are showing 24hr or 48hr delivery then this is the quickest time we're able to deliver these items. You'll be asked to select your a delivery date when purchasing the goods.

Please note that it is an all day delivery.

    Two Man Delivery (£60)

As the name suggests with our two man delivery service the goods will be delivered by two men. They will carry your stove into the room of your choice where possible. If the hallway is to narrow or they feel that they can’t fit it through the doorway safely they might not be able to get it into the room.

They will normally carry it up 1 flight of stairs (if it's safe to do so) but this is at their discretion so if you have a 3rd floor flat please inform us before hand to avoid any issues during delivery.

The two man delivery normally take 5 - 10 working days to be delivered from dispatch. Once the goods are in stock you will be contacted and delivery arranged.

Hi. We have a raised hearth with quite a low (80cm) top to the opening. Can this stove be used without the legs to reduce the height a little? Regards
    Hi Mick,
    Thank you for your question.
    No, please don't do that!
The Firefox 8 is not suitable for a 12mm glass hearth, this is because the temperatures underneath the stove can exceed 100°C. Removing the legs would be a big fire hazard and I'm pretty sure it would void the warranty too.

The Firefox has a small depth (363mm) so maybe you could have the stove moved in front of the fireplace on an extended hearth and have the stove pipe fitted to the back of the stove instead of the top?
I'll email you the user manual which shows possible installation scenarios.
    Hope this helps?
    Kind regards,

Is this stove DEFEA approved if not what is the impact of this
    Hi Steve,
    Thank you for your question.
This Firefox 8 is NOT Defra approved, this means you cannot burn wood in it within a smoke control area. Your local authority environmental health dept will have full information on Smoke Control Areas.
If you are exclusively burning smokeless fuel you will be OK however, there are large fines for each instance of burning wood.

We do sell a Defra approved version of the Firefox 8 - https://www.directstoves.com/firefox-8-defra-approved-multifuel-stove.html which may better suit your needs, though it doesn't have the double door option.
Please contact our stove experts on 0845 450 8351 if you need to know more about any aspect of wood stove ownership.
    Hope this helps?

How do you clean it and get to the chimney for sweeping. Is it easy to maintain?
    Hi Phil,
    Thanks for your question.
The manufacturers of the Firefox 8 recommend removal and cleaning of the baffle plate once a month to stop debris from collecting in the stove.
See the user instructions in the download tab.
With the baffle plate removed you can sweep the chimney through the stove.
If you want to make doubly sure the flue is accessible you could also fit a stove pipe with a door.
    Hope this helps?

what size heath do need for the fire fox 8
    Hi Vince,
    Thank you for your question.
The size of hearth needed will depend on various factors.
The Firefox 8 is not suitable for a 12mm thick glass hearth as the under-stove temperatures can exceed 100°C.
So the stove should be fitted on a constructional hearth within a fireplace. The hearth must protrude at least 300mm from the front of the stove.
Please see the manual on the download section of the product page and also the current Building Regulations documents Part J - https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/468872/ADJ_LOCKED.pdf

We would recommend calling our stove experts on 0845 450 8351 or getting a Hetas certified installer to survey your property before buying a stove or hearth.
    Hope this helps?

hi is this stove defra approved
    Hi Bill,
    Thank you for your question.
THe Firefox 8 twin door is NOT Defra approved, you will need to look at a Firefox 8 Cleanburn stove for one with Defra approval, https://www.directstoves.com/firefox-8-defra-approved-multifuel-stove.html

If it is the double door that has made you want this stove why not look at these Defra approved 8kW alternatives? - https://www.directstoves.com/stoves/double-door-multi-fuel-wood-burning-stoves/yes_1-7.1to8kw.html

does the fire come assembled and if not is it minimal like legs?
    Hi Liam,
    Thank you for your question.
There is minimum assembly required with this stove.
The legs and flue collar are inside the fire box for ease of transport.
The installation manual recommends emptying the fire box of all parts, baffle plate, fire bricks etc, for convenience when fitting.
Please see the user manual on the "Downloads" tab for full installation instructions.

Hi there, If I purchase the stove with the flue liner and pot hanger will the register plate still be needed to be fitted?
    Hi Paul,
    Thank you for your question.
The register plate is fitted into the top of the fireplace chamber to block off the bottom of the chimney. It serves to hide all the liner and pipe work from view, to stop any debris from falling onto the stove and to cut down on draughts that may come from the chimney.
The flue liner takes the smoke exhaust from the stove to the top of the chimney and the pot hanger holds the liner in place, stops rain from getting into the liner and deters birds from finding a nice warm spot in your chimney. All do distinct jobs and we recommend you use them together to get the most from your stove.
    Hope this helps?

What size of rope seal should I be using on this fire?
    Hi Stuart,
    Thank you for your question.
The Firefox 8 twin door stove uses an 8mm soft rope seal for the doors and glass.
The Firefox 8 single door model uses a 10mm soft rope seal for the door, and an 8mm soft rope for the glass.
    Hope this helps?

Hi , i intend to use the rear flu, do i require an adaptor plate to join the six inch flue
    Hi Peter,
    Thank you for your question.
To use the rear flue instead of the top flue you would swap the blanking plate from the back with the spigot from the top and then install the flue starting with a T-Piece such as this one - https://www.directstoves.com/matt-black-t-piece-with-end-cap.html
This allows the chimney to be swept by removing the end cap for brush access.
Please download the user guide on the product page which shows this on page 4
    Hope this helps?

What is the expected shelf life of the glass and D is it schott glass.
    Hi Janice,
    Thank you for your question.
The manufacturers of the Firefox stove don't specify which make of glass is used but it is a fire-resistant ceramic glass.
Under normal use the glass could last for years, the main reasons for breakage are incorrectly loaded fuels moving and hitting the window.
    Hope this helps?
