Hi why does there have to be an open fireplace when it's just electric.

Hi there, thanks for getting in touch. It doesn't have to be in an open fireplace, it is presented as such for the purposes of the photo. In the user manual it reads - "The stove must have a minimum clearance of 50mm to combustible material on all sides. A clearance of minimum 50mm to non-combustible materials is also required to ensure correct
operation." Which are the only requirements. I hope this helps.

"As a portable electric appliance, this product is only suitable for well insulated spaces or occasional use." So yes, it can be freestanding. I hope this helps.

The Celsi Electristove must be installed within a fireplace opening, according to the installation guide, and must have 50mm of free space around it to ensure correct operation.
The fireplace opening for this stove should measure at least - 624mm wide and 637mm tall
