The Saltfire ST-X Wide 5kW Bioethanol Stove is a striking addition to the home, combining a wide flame view with practical, flexible use. With its oversized viewing window, it offers a captivating view of the flames, creating a warm and inviting focal point in your living space.
Despite its wider proportions, the ST-X Wide has a reduced depth of just 291mm, making it suitable for installation in shallow fireplaces. When installed freestanding, it also takes up less space in the room, helping it integrate neatly into a wide range of interiors. As one of the widest stoves available in the UK, it also provides ample firebox space for longer logs when used as a wood or multifuel stove.
This model can be installed as a normal wood or multifuel stove with an appropriate flue system, allowing it to be used for solid fuel or bioethanol. Alternatively, it can be installed free-standing without a chimney or flue if you intend to use only the bioethanol option. With its 5-inch diameter flue and removable rear heat shield, it offers practical installation options.
For added flexibility, the ST-X Wide can be used with a bioethanol fuel insert tray, which gives a typical heat output of 1-1.5kW. This makes it ideal as a background heat source or for enjoying a real flame aesthetic when you do not require the heat of a woodburner. It is particularly well-suited to spring and summer evenings, or for winter use in rooms where there is already a primary heat source, such as central heating.
The bioethanol burner tray can be lifted in and out of the stove easily without any tools. When removed, it can also be used outside the stove, for example, on a patio during summer evenings. With the tray removed, the stove becomes the standard wood stove and can be used with wood, subject to a suitable chimney connection.
In addition to its practical versatility, the Saltfire ST-X Wide also offers strong efficiency and environmental credentials. It has a heat efficiency rating of 78.9%, is clearSkies rated 4, DEFRA-approved for use in smoke control areas, and meets EcoDesign standards for emissions and particulates.
Bioethanol also offers a number of practical benefits. As a biofuel, it is considered carbon-neutral because the carbon dioxide released during burning is absorbed by plants during their growth. The liquid fuel is easy and clean to store, and although the heat output is noticeably lower than a solid fuel appliance, the bioethanol burner still provides useful background warmth together with the attraction and cosiness of a real flame fire.
