    The Esse One Woodburning Stove is a British manufactured stove that has all the features and quality that you have come to expect from an Esse stove. The Esse One Stove has a heat output of 5kw and is DEFRA exempt allowing you to burn wood in a smoke controlled zone. The Esse One has a 74% efficiency the stoves features a primary, secondary and tertiary air supply. This stove is ideal for a room of about 75m3.

    Esse have introduced a log store stand that raises the stove from the hearth by 300mm. This log store enables you to neatly keep your fuel close at hand and can be purchased with the stove or retrofitted. It brings rural charm to any home, displaying the natural beauty of cut logs. The steel construction can be finished in the same matte colour to match your ESSE stove.

    What's included in the offer:

    • 1. Black stove pipe. 
    • 2. A registration plate is used to seal the chimney opening off from the room preventing dust, soot, dirt and debris falling down the chimney. It also helps to prevent a draft coming down the chimney. We supply a standard 1000mm x 500mm galvanised steel register plate with all our stoves. You will simply need to cut the plate to size to fit into your chimney opening.
    • 3. We also provide you with a single stove glove that you can use for stoking the fire and adding wood without the risk of personal injury.

    *Excludes electric stoves, flueless and balanced flue gas stoves - as these are not required.

    Carbon Monoxide Detector:

    Due to an update to Building Regulations it is now law to have a Carbon Monoxide alarm present in any room with a solid fuel appliance:- The Building Regulations 2000 Approved Document J (2010 Edition) '2.34 Where a new or replacement fixed solid fuel appliance is installed in the dwelling, a carbon monoxide alarm should be provided in the room where the appliance is located.' 


    Flue Liner Packs:

    The flue liner pack consists of; a nose cone, to easily manoeuvre the flue liner into place, a flue adaptor, which connects the stove pipe to the flexible flue liner, Dura Flue flexible flue liner (this is 6" in diameter and 316 Grade) cut to the required length and a 6" pot hanger rain cap, this supports the flue liner from the top of the chimney and also acts as a bird guard and rain cap.



    Stove Pipe with Door:

    A stove pipe with door or access point, allows the chimney to be swept through the pipe itself.  




    Stove Glass Insurance:

    If you select to take out our stove glass insurance this covers your stove glass for the time period you select. If your glass breaks within that time period we will send you a replacement piece of glass regardless of the reason the glass broke. All we will ask is that you send a picture of the broken glass.
    The insurance only covers you for one replacement piece of glass. It doesn't cover you if you break the replacement piece of glass.
    All stove glass is covered during delivery and any glass broken in transit to you will be replaced free of charge, without affecting your stove glass insurance.

    Free 1 Man Delivery

    Our "Free Delivery" is a one man service. The goods will arrive on a lorry that is about the size of a fire engine. (Please let us know in advance if you have restricted access.).

    The lorry has a tail lift that allows the driver to get the stove/oven off the vehicle, the stove/oven will be packed on a pallet and the driver will have a pallet truck.

    He'll be able wheel this as close as possible to your property, if you have a garage he'll be able to wheel it into there for you.

    The pallet truck can only be wheeled over a finished surface so it's not possible to wheel it over a gravelled drive nor is it possible to wheel up or down steps.

    The pallets are normally about a 1m wide so this is the minimum width gate they can fit through. Please note that the driver is not insured to unpack or carry the stove/oven into your house.

    If the goods are showing 24hr or 48hr delivery then this is the quickest time we're able to deliver these items. You'll be asked to select your a delivery date when purchasing the goods.

    Please note that it is an all day delivery.

    Two Man Delivery (£60)

    As the name suggests with our two man delivery service the goods will be delivered by two men. They will carry your stove into the room of your choice.

    They will normally carry it up 1 flight of stairs (if it's safe to do so) but this is at their discretion so if you have a 3rd floor flat please inform us before hand to avoid any issues during delivery.

    The two man delivery normally take 5 - 10 working days to be delivered from dispatch. Once the goods are in stock you will be contacted and delivery arranged.

    Hi - does the overall depth measurement include the handle / bottom shelf / feet only
    Hi Mel,
    Thank you for your question.
    The overall depth includes the top of the stove which overhangs the main stove body.
    The handle and door controls may exceed the overall depth by a few millimetres. I've updated the default dimensions image previously used with the official one from Esse. I hope this makes the dimensions clearer than before.

    Good morning, could you advise details of the Option Flue Liner pack with the Esse One Wood Burning Stove as i've been told i will require "904/316 125MM FLUE LINER FOR SOLID FUEL". Many thanks Lucy

    If you’re only burning wood then the 316/316 flue/chimney liner is perfectly suitable. The flue liner packs we offer with the stoves are 316/316 and come with the flue adaptor and pot hanger rain cap. So if you order the stove and liner pack you’ll get everything you need to fit the stove as we also send a free length of stove pipe ( the black pipe coming out the stove) and register plate with the stove.

    If you did want to 316/904 you can also buy this from us but I wouldn’t say it’s necessary.

    I am interested in buying a multi burning stove but need one with the flue outlet at the back of the stove can you advise as to which ones would do this, we have a villager stove at the moment but need to replace it.

    The Esse One wood burning stove has a top and rear flue option. This is interchangeable so you can decide when fitting it if you want it top or rear exit.

    The vast majority of stoves have the option to be top or rear exit for the flue. It will say on our web site whether the stove has a top or rear flue exit or both. If you look under the "Specification" tab you will see a title "Flue Outlet" it will say here Top & Rear (interchangeable). That means that you can have the flue coming out the top of back of the stove which will suit your requirements.

    I see the specification says it will take a log length of 480mm, is that correct, it seems large compared to other similar sized stoves.

    Thank you for your question and thank you for pointing out our error. I think the spec was written by our resident Dr Who fan.
    The 480mm log length would make the inside bigger than the outside. I've corrected the spec now.
    Esse recommends logs of around 200mm for optimum performance.
    The user manual (see download tab) states:
    "Our tests have shown that burning logs not longer than 20cm and with a width or diameter of no more than 12cm will produce the optimum smoke free performance. We recommend a maximum of 5 logs at any one time."

    Are the stoves easy to fit as a replacement to an existing gas fire, or will I need a trades person to connect it,
    Hi Marc,
    Thank you for your question.
    First, you would need a GasSafe registered person to disconnect and cap the supply to the gas fire.
    In England and Wales the installation of wood burning and multifuel stoves (or any solid fuel appliance) is work that is “controlled” under the Building Regulations, as is the relining or installation of flues and chimneys associated with such heat producing appliances.
    If fitting the stove yourself, you should get your local authority Building Control or a HETAS registered fitter to sign the install off. Failure to do this could affect your home insurance and your ability to sell the property should you decide to in years to come.
    We would recommend speaking to a HETAS registered fitter and discussing the project with them prior to starting any work.

    Thank you for your enquiry. The Esse One Stove has an interchangeable top and rear spigot. This means it is suitable for both top and rear exits. The parts required come with the stove as standard.

    If I were to have this stove and used a rear pipe (so I had space on top to boil a kettle if needs be) what would be the overall depth?
    Hi Niamh,

    Thank you for your enquiry. I would advise using a t-piece with end cap should you chose to use the rear exit on this stove. This would increase the depth from the back of the vitreous to the front of the stove to around 550mm.

    Yes you can convert an Esse One wood burner to a multifuel stove, full instructions on fitting the kit are in the user manual.

    Can I use this stove with a sealed heating system i.e. My current combi boiler thanks

    Thank you for your question.
    The Esse One Defra stove is a room-heat only appliance, as such it can be used alongside a sealed central heating system.
    The problems only arise when wanting to use a boiler stove (or wet appliance), these need to be compatible with your boiler system as they also provide hot water and need to plumbed in.

    Hi there I'm seriously interested in purchasing this stove. Could you tell me if the black finish is soft and smooth or like a rough cast please.

    The body of the stove is steel and is smooth. The door of the stove is cast iron and has a slight texture to it. It's quite common for British made stoves to have a steel body and cast door.

    Casting the doors allows for more detail, shapes and patterns to be incorporated into the design of the door.

    What is the weight of this stove, please? Is it delivered complete as a unit, or is it delivered as individual parts? Would you deliver to France?

    Thank you for your question.
    The Esse One multifuel and wood stoves are supplied on a pallet and are ready to install.
    The wood burning version is approx 57Kgs in weight and the multifuel version is a bit more, probably about 62Kgs.
    We can supply to France but we would have to charge delivery as our free delivery only includes the UK.

    waht do you mean by 74% efficiency

    Thank you for an excellent question!
    Stove efficiency is measured in % terms and tells you how much heat emits from the stove into the room and how much heat is wasted and goes up the chimney.
    As a rough guide a stove with 75% efficiency loses 25% up the chimney and heats the room with the 75%, compared to an open fire where nearly 80% goes up the chimney.

    My cottage has a large hearth with an open fire and chimney. If I install a stove with a top outlet, will I need to line the whole chimney ?

    The Esse One stove installation guide recommends the chimney should have a cross section of no less than 200mm diameter.
    We would recommend you have the chimney surveyed by a Hetas registered installer, he will be able to tell you the condition of your chimney and how to get the best from your stove.

    If the clearance is 700mm from combustible material at the rear, what is the clearance from non-conbustible? Can the burner be left overnight?
    Hi Mel,
    Thank you for your questions.
    There isn't a set distance from non-combustibles however, we would recommend a distance of at least 150mm to ensure enough air circulation around the stove for it to heat the space properly.
    Some manufacturers state in their instructions that their stoves aren't suitable for overnight burning but Esse do not.
    You can use the Esse One for overnight burning.
    It's called slumbering, the air is turned right down, but can be revived in the morning without the need for relighting.
    Please be aware of the problems associated with slumbering.
    It can cause increased amounts of carbon dioxide in the exhaust and can increase the tarry deposits within the chimney and sometimes on the stove glass.
    It's going to be a choice between the convenience of instant heat against the inconvenience of extra cleaning - for you and your chimney sweep.

    The Esse One stove has a top or rear flue exit. The spigot on the top and the blanking plate on the rear can be removed and swapped over.

    With the Esse One stove, the flue can not be swept through the stove when using the rear flue option.
    We do have an additional optional part 'Rear fluebox adapter' that has a sweeping access point in the detachable base.

    If your application isn't successful, you can still purchase the item in full via PayPal or with a valid credit or debit card. If your application is declined, it’s usually for one of the following reasons:

    • you are considered to be overcommitted financially; or
    • your existing account performance with other lenders.
