Looking for a way to add warmth and character to your living space? The Esse Bakeheart is the perfect solution. With its radiantheat and versatiledesign, this cook stove is more than just a wood burner. It offers a four-zone cooking hob and a generous baking oven, making it ideal for off-grid living or energy-saving purposes.
The Bakeheart is easy to install and can be fitted almost anywhere to provide a reliable source of heat and cooking for extended periods. Whether you're enjoying a cup of tea or cooking up a storm in the morning, the large glass window gives you an uninterrupted view of the dancing flames inside.
Unlike standard range cookers that are designed to contain heat, the Bakeheart features convectionpanels that radiate warmth out into the room, just like a regular wood-burning stove. The unique heat transfer technology allows the hob to heat up in just a few minutes after lighting the stove. Say goodbye to feeling cold and hungry after a long day at work - the Esse Bakeheart keeps you warm and satisfied with heat ranging from 300ËšC in the centre down to 190ËšC on the outer ring.
The updated top design now comes with a folded edge profile, enhancing the stove's heritage aesthetics and giving it a charming, rustic look. Plus, when combined with a domestic boiler, the 5kW Bakeheart can also become a wellspring of hot water for your home while you cook all your favourite heart-warming dishes with the hob and oven.

Direct Stoves - Stove Fitting Kits* What's included in the fitting kit
1. Black stove pipe.
2. A registration plate is used to seal the chimney opening off from the room preventing dust, soot, dirt and debris falling down the chimney. It also helps to prevent a draft coming down the chimney. We supply a standard 800mm x 400mm galvanised steel register plate with all our stoves. You will simply need to cut the plate to size to fit into your chimney opening.
3. We also provide you with a single stove glove that you can use for stoking the fire and adding wood without the risk of personal injury.
*Only available for wood, multifuel and gas stoves. Excluded for the following which do not need these items: inset stoves, electric stoves, flueless and balanced flue gas stoves and outdoor & garden products. Optional Extras.
Carbon Monoxide Detector:
Due to an update to Building Regulations it is now law to have a Carbon Monoxide alarm present in any room with a solid fuel appliance:- The Building Regulations 2000 Approved Document J (2010 Edition) '2.34 Where a new or replacement fixed solid fuel appliance is installed in the dwelling, a carbon monoxide alarm should be provided in the room where the appliance is located.'
Flue Liner Packs:
The flue liner pack consists of; a flue adaptor, which connects the stove pipe to the flexible flue liner, Dura Flue flexible flue liner (this will have a relevant diameter to the outlet size of the stove and 316 Grade) cut to the required length and a pot hanger rain cap, this supports the flue liner from the top of the chimney and also acts as a bird guard and rain cap.
Stove Pipe with Door:
A stove pipe with door or access point, allows the chimney to be swept through the pipe itself.
Firewood Starter Bundle
Our Firewood Starter Bundle contains all you need for your first fire in your new stove. 1 box of kiln dried logs with a moisture content of less than 20% and Woodsure Ready to Burn certified. This is UK sourced wood from sustainable forestry. The wood is pine. 1 bag of kindling and a pack of 20 natural wood eco firelighters.
Please make the relevant selection above when placing your order if you require any of these parts and also select whether or not you require a Carbon Monoxide alarm sending out with your order. Please note that if these parts aren't selected with your order we can't send them for free after your order has been delivered.
Our "Free Delivery" is a one-man service. The goods will arrive on a lorry that is about the size of a fire engine. (Please let us know in advance if you have restricted access or other local issues that could affect delivery).
The lorry has a tail lift that allows the driver to get the item(s) off the vehicle. The order will be packed and secured onto a pallet and the driver will have a pallet truck. He'll be able to wheel this as close as possible to your property. The pallet truck can only be wheeled over a finished surface so it's not possible to wheel it over a gravelled drive, steps, steep slopes for example. The pallets are normally about 1m wide so this is the minimum width gate they can fit through. Please note that the driver is not insured to unpack or carry the item(s) into your house.
Fitting Kits and Liner Packs might arrive separately by courier delivery on the same day unless specified/requested in advance. An email confirmation will be sent if this is the case.
If the goods are showing 48hr delivery, then this is the quickest time we're able to deliver these items (We do not deliver at weekends). You'll be asked to select a delivery date when purchasing the goods. Please note that if you live offshore these dates do not apply as it will take us slightly longer to get the goods to you and we will contact you directly.
Please note that it is an all-day delivery service which is generally from 9 am – 6 pm Monday to Friday. Delivery Depots, if they have the facility, will text in advance but as the vans do multiple runs a day you might not receive a text until the afternoon if this service is available.
Due to current pallet network pressures mainly due to driver shortages we cannot guarantee delivery on your chosen day but will do our best to communicate this as soon as we are made aware by the carriers.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE STRONGLY ADVISE THAT YOU DO NOT BOOK ANY CONTRACTORS, PLUMBER’S, OR FITTERS UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED YOUR GOODS AS UNEXPECTED DELAYS CAN OCCUR.
Hi, I am also considering a fit in a "kitchen run", whilst I can see the sense of the spacing and none combustible material, the picture in your advert above shows the stove burning with no distance between the non combustible sheet and a timber frame, have I missed something here, please explain if I have not grasped the spacing correctly. thank you
regards Dave
Question by: Dave on 10 Apr 2021, 10:37
Hi Dave, thanks for getting in touch. You always need to make sure you adhere to the distances given in the user manual of every product you buy from Direct Stoves. This one for example, has the following requirements for distances to combustibles:
Distance to Combustibles - Top 416mm
Distance to Combustibles - Sides 400mm
Distance to Combustibles - Rear 500mm
The image you are referring to, the sheet behind should be a non combustible material, thus shortening the required distance. This is an image supplied to us by the supplier for use on our website and not our direction for use. Always consult the user guide for any distances required. I hope this helps.

Esse Bakeheart Wood Burning Cook Stove. Size of oven please.
Hi there, I see the distances quoted to "combustables" side & rear quite large at 400 & 500mm. I am considering an installation in a "kitchen run" setting, so looking o get closer to a back wall and units either side. Quite happy for these to be clad in suitable non-combustable materials in which case, can you give me an idea of min air gaps or guidelines on installation? Many thanks!
Question by: John Pelosi on 5 Dec 2020, 16:05
Hi John, apologies for the delay on this - I have been awaiting a reply from the supplier. they have said:
"The only way to cut down the distance to combustibles is to shield the combustible surface.
This means installing an A1 rated fireboard between the combustible surface and the cooker. The fireboard must be spaced off the combustible material by 12mm, so that a 12mm air gap is created. This doesn’t make the surface a non-combustible but allows you to reduce the distance by half."
I hope this helps. Thanks.
