The Ekol Clarity 12 Bioethanol Stove combines striking design, durable construction and flexible fuel options in one impressive model. This state-of-the-art hybrid stove brings together solid cast iron inner components, a precision-engineered outer steel shell and dense refractory firebrick linings, creating a stove that is built for both performance and lasting appeal.
As a standard wood stove, the Ekol Clarity 12 offers a high heat output of 12kW, making it well suited to larger rooms and open living spaces. Its large viewing window provides an uninterrupted view of the flames, creating a warm and inviting focal point, while the optional mirror glass offers a neat and discreet look by hiding the firebox and ash pan when the stove is not in use.
The stove also features ultra-cleanburning technology, delivering superior efficiency levels and creating unique, attractive flame patterns. Compatible with 12mm hearths, it has a heat efficiency rating of 77%, is clearSkies rated 5, meets the latest EcoDesign emissions and particulates standards, and is approved by DEFRA for exemption from smoke control zone rules.
For added flexibility, the Ekol Clarity 12 can also be used with a bioethanol fuel insert tray, which gives a typical heat output of 1-1.5kW. This makes it ideal as a background heat source or for creating a real flame aesthetic when you do not require the heat of a woodburner. It is particularly well suited to spring and summer evenings, or for winter use in rooms where there is already a primary heat source, such as central heating.
This stove can either be installed as a normal wood or multifuel stove with an appropriate flue system, allowing it to be used for solid fuel or bioethanol, or it can be installed free-standing without a chimney or flue if you intend to use only the bioethanol option.
The bioethanol burner tray can be lifted in and out of the stove easily without any tools. When removed, it can also be used outside the stove, for example on a patio during summer evenings. With the tray removed, the stove becomes the standard wood stove and can be used with wood, subject to a suitable chimney connection.
Bioethanol also offers a number of practical benefits. As a biofuel, it is considered carbon-neutral because the carbon dioxide released during burning is absorbed by plants during their growth. The liquid fuel is easy and clean to store, and although the heat output is noticeably lower than a solid fuel appliance, the bioethanol burner still provides useful background warmth together with the attraction and cosiness of a real flame fire.
