The rising prices of fossil based energy sources like coal and oil, has forced people to search for affordable alternatives to keep their hearth warm. Keeping a fossil or electricity based heating system running, is becoming increasingly more expensive and less affordable. Wood has always been the most popular traditional source of fire, and it is still being looked up on as the most economic and favourite energy source as usage for even short cycles would save you a large amount of money in the long run. Another option is to buy a multifuel stove which keeps you well prepared for any occasion when you might find yourself in a shortage of ordinary mineral fuels or electricity. The multifuel stoves are very handy in times of power failures or when a particular type of fuel turns expensive in the market or becomes scarce.

A multifuel stove will burn a variety of different fuels including smokeless fuel, wood and peat which makes it an ideal choice for British smoke free zones. Wood can be burnt in the multifuel stove as well as the traditional wood burner. There are both wood and multifuel stoves that emit under 1 gram per hour and any stove that emits under 2 grams per hour can be considered very clean. Every manufacturer of multifuel stove is required to list their emissions in grams of smoke per hour and it is the multifuel stoves which are cleaner then the wood burners. The amount of heat produced varies between the wrought iron and the steel fire boxes as a Steel multifuel stove will heat up quicker but cool down faster than the Cast iron multifuel stove, which will take longer to heat up but will retain the heat longer than a steel firebox, after the fire has gone out.

The Olymberyl Paladin 7 kW Multi Fuel Boiler Stove is one the can burn coal, brown coal nuggets, briquettes, turf and peat. The Olymberyl Paladin 7 Multi Fuel stove is rated at 7kw capacity and is up to 75% efficient, utilising a 5″ diameter flue. The glass door is a great contemporary touch, giving an amazing view of the fire. An air control system ensure that the styling remains clean and simple on the Olymberyl Paladin 7 kW Multi Fuel stove’s secondary burn system, which ensures cleaner and more efficient combustion of the solid fuel emissions thereby reducing its carbon footprint on the environment. The insulated fire box ensures that the temperature is maintained at a level sufficiently hot enough for the combustion of gases and particles that might have escaped from the initial burn which inturn reduces emissions and increasing efficiency and heat distribution of the stove. This multifuel stove complies with European, North American and Australian / New Zealand standards for emission and has Over Night Burn Facility so that you need not wake up in the middle of the night to reignite. You can as well fir 3 radiators to keep the room warm all through the night. Use of alternative fuels sources for your multifuel stove, like corn or wood pellets can keep it hot through 24 hours a day. Pellets have a slightly higher carbon footprint than wood be purchased in several grades at hardware and feed stores.

Choose Your Wood Burning Stove Online or Call to Order – 0161 491 8969

Most often the efficiency of old world fireplaces is very low propagating only about 25 percent of the heat they produce. The modern solution to the problem of an inefficient fireplace is to find a wood burning stove that employs modern technology to get over the troubles of old. You can insert a wood burning stove into an existing fireplace with the minimum of fuss. Essentially a self-contained firebox, the insert fits into the existing box and allows air to circulate around it, thus heating it. The insert is connected to the chimney to vent the smoke and combustion by-products.

The inset version of the ever popular wood burning stove has been designed to provide a handy solution for converting an open fire into a high performance fireplace. Direct Stove has many wood burning stove options that will fit into a British standard fireplace without any difficulty and is more than enough to heat your room while keeping the air clean of any soot or other harmful gases. Some wood burning stoves have systems that ensure clean glass through out its life time giving a full view of the burning wood.

In case you don’t a working fireplace, choose a freestanding wood burning stove, which you can place nearly anywhere in your home. Many homes with less than 1,500 square feet of living space can be heated by a single wood burning stove or pellet stove as long as you have a relatively open floor plan.

In case you cut and split your own wood, you may want to consider a stove that takes longer logs, to reduce your work-load by buying a wood burning stove with the largest firebox to transmit as much heating possible the traditional way. It would be good to do your homework before you set about buying your wood burning stove. For starters, measure the surface area you intend to heat and choose from a range of wood burning stoves that is rated to heat that amount of area you have in mind. The Invicta Boheme is one such traditional wood burning stove ideal for large traditional rooms and cottages of up to 76/224m² as it produces an astounding 14 kW of heat. The exterior of the Boheme is hand made ceramic whilst the interior is made from solid cast iron. Room heating will work better in a more airtight house that has features like weather stripping, insulation, storm window, and caulking, which in turn can result in less fuel for heating.

Several years ago stove manufacturers were cutting back and wondering what alternative businesses they could with their excess capacity.

Now however nothing could be further from that. If anything stove manufactures can’t keep up with the demand that they now find for multi fuel and wood burning stoves. This huge increase in demand for multi fuel stoves and wood burning stoves has come from the constant increase in the price of gas.

Every time an article appears in the paper or the price of gas is reported as going up on the news there is a spike in the sales of stoves. People are now looking towards wood and coal as a cheaper and more environmentally friendly way to heat their homes. Not only are stoves a cheaper and greener way to heat your home than a gas central heating system but they are also a lot more attractive and homely. There can be little less welcoming on a cold winter’s day than to come into your home to a warm, glowing stove. With this increase in popularity of multi fuel and wood burning stoves a lot more companies have entered the market and the choice of stove available is constantly expanding. Here at directstoves.com we offer a wide range of stoves, from contemporary wood burning stoves to traditional multi fuel stoves all from the best brands.

With the constant increase in the cost of gas and electricity people are constantly looking for a cheaper and greener alternative to heat their home.

The cheapest and most environmentally friendly way is with a wood burning stove. Due to these factors there has been a steady increase in the sales of wood burning stoves and people re-opening up closed fireplace openings. There has been a slight negative result from this increase of wood burning stoves been used to heat people homes as criminals have spotted a chance to make a quick profit as they have now started to steal timber and even entire tree’s. They have taken to stealing felled trees from woodlands and conservation areas. Wildlife charities and woodland trusts are suffering from this as they regularly rely of the sale of fire wood for wood burning stoves as a source of income.

It is with this in mind that here a directstoves.com we strongly recommend that when you are buying wood for your wood burning stove that you buy it from a certified and sustainable source of wood. People are often tempted to use cheap wood on their wood burning stoves. Although this seems like a good cheap idea it can be costly in the long run. Wooden off cuts from building jobs, broken pallets etc. not only give off less heat they can also be treated is a variety of chemicals which can be damaging to your stove and flue liner. If you use cheap wood from unknown sources you may find that not only are these coming from unsustainable sources but you may well find that the wood is dam and not properly seasoned. If you’re using damp wood you will find it difficult to light, very smoky and cause you’re stove window to soot up. There is also a chance that this damp wood could damage your wood burning stove.

If you are thinking of buying a wood burning stove and you need a good local source of wood then please feel free to contact us here at directstoves.com and we will see if we can help you as well as helping you choose the best wood burning wood stove to suit your needs.

Chris Huhne will be visiting the Isle of White on the 2nd August and will touring some of the islands local businesses.

During his visit the energy minister is to visit the award winning wood burning and multi fuel stove manufacturer AJ Wells who make the Charnwood Stoves at their Isle of White factory. Whilst there he will be touring the factory where they have been manufacturing the Charnwood stoves since 1972 he will also be discussing the important part that wood burning stoves can play in reducing carbon emissions.

Local councillor Pugh has been quoted as saying ““The Island has made much progress on its Eco Island agenda and we are delighted to have this opportunity to demonstrate some of our successes to Mr Huhne.” Charnwood are very much a family run business and are very keen to promote green energy and carbon neutral energy. They run a very strict Environmental Policy from product design to the way the pack and ship their stoves. Every stove is designed and built to maximise its efficiencies so that you get more heat out of the wood or coal that you burn. This not only means that you’re consuming less raw materials it’s also costing you less to heat your home.

When it come to a renewable and carbon neutral heat source then a wood burning stove is the only choice as it is one of the few fuels that are renewable within our lifespan. Charnwood also offer a range of stoves with built in back boilers allowing you to not only heat the room the stove is in but also the hot water and central heating system.
