Carbon Neutral
Many people don’t realise why wood is a carbon-neutral fuel. As people see the smoke coming out of a stove they believe that this is a release of carbon dioxide. Which is true but the amount carbon dioxide given off is the same the wood (tree) stored up when it was growing. And, if the tree wasn’t burnt and was simple left when it finally died the rotting trunk of the tree would produce the same about of carbon dioxide as it produces when it’s burnt. Most of the firewood that is sold in the UK comes from sustainable sources.
This means that it has come from a forest where each time they cut a tree down they replant a new one. So that the emissions that are given off when a tree is burnt on a stove are equal to that that the new tree absorbs when it grows. With new technology in the way that stoves burn they are becoming more and more efficient. The smoke and gas that are given off when wood is burn still contain combustibles in it, this smoke and gas is pasted round the stove again and these gases are burnt off. This not only increase the efficiency of the stove it also produces a lot less smoke meaning that it burns a lot cleaner.
